Pat Wright Says His Goodbyes to Rocky

AUTHOR: Pat Wright
DATE: January 11, 1998

Thank you for your support.

This morning I was jarred awake at six a.m. The last image in my sleep was my last vision of Rocky. The police persuaded animal control to let me see Rocky one last time. He was in a little wire cage about 12" x 12" x 18". He was standing in urine and feces -- not his own. He looked so scared and his eyes told me "I want to go home." I called to him but he could not hear me, he just looked so scared.

When I woke up I wish I could just die. I think of the betrayal. Animal Control promised me he wouldn't be put down. Then they say "we made a mistake."

Animal Control later admitted that they knew there was no chance Rocky had rabies. I think the people at public health knew this as well.

Now I wanted to kill.

As you can tell, I am not doing very well.

If it weren't for the kindess of the ferret community and my partner I wouldn't make it through this.

Thank you everyone again.
