Twin Infants Injured by Ferret
DATE: January 11, 1998
I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but just wanted to let you all know that the following made it onto the 4th page of the "Orange County" section of the LA Times, dated 12/18/97. It was way down in the bottom corner, but my vet said she heard about it on TV. Not to make light of the incident, but how many kids do you figure were put in the hospital by dogs on Tuesday, and why didn't those attacks make the news? And when will people learn to keep their infants away from the family pets? Anyway, here's the article:
YORBA LINDA -- Two infants were attacked by a pet ferret and suffered puncture wounds to their faces, hands and arms, Brea police said. The 3-week-old twin boys were in stable condition Wednesday night at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Anaheim after the attack in their home in Yorba Linda at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Det. Rick Edwards said the 2-pound ferret was destroyed. Authorities said it did not have rabies.
